Pollination on a thistle flower
The thistle is a celebrated plant in the United Kingdom. My favorite use for the official floral emblem of Scotland is as a bittering agent in beer. While in Aviemore, Scotland I tried Blessed Thistle, a local bitter ale from Cairngorm Brewery Company made with thistles.

Strange looking bees!
They prefer to be called “different looking”. They were smaller and a slightly less vibrant color than most bees I’m used to.

We’re so glad to hear your trip was wonderful! We had a great time in Scotland and England. We’re heading to Wales this weekend, but decided to wait to see Ireland when we have more time to explore. We look forward to that ice cream pie!
Thinking about the two of you as you go off to London. Trista loved London but I will be curious to see the London you see now! A safe one and one you can totally enjoy, I hope!
Thankfully we had the chance to explore London when we were here about a month ago. We just got back to London today from Manchester where riots had spread to last night. London is beautiful, one of my favorite cities that we have visited. I especially enjoy spending time just walking around and seeing the mixture of old and new architecture.
